Tour the places where Hollywood came to Boston

Boston is responsible for some of Hollywood’s most popular exports: Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, the Wahlberg family and their delicious chain of burgers, and on occasion, Hollywood comes to us.

Boston and our landmarks have been the background to several blockbusters including Good Will Hunting, The Departed, Mystic River, and Gone Baby Gone. Even now as we write this (July 2015) the all women Ghostbusters reboot starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones is being filmed in town.

If you are a movie lover, you must embark on an On Location Tours movie tour of Boston. There are two options: The Boston Movie & TV Sites tour or the Boston Movie Mile walking tour. Both tours will take you to movie and TV locations, bringing what appears on your screen to life.

On Location Tours website states you will:

  • See where the chase scene from The Town took place
  • Grab a drink at L Street Tavern, home of Good Will Hunting
  • Take a peek at the FBI headquarters from The Heat
  • Visit 10 locations from The Departed including the building from the climactic rooftop scene
  • Catch a glimpse of the building used in Boston Legal and Ally McBeal
  • Look at the building where the key business deal happened in American Hustle
  • Get insider information on the secrets behind filming The Heat, Mystic River, Legally Blonde, Fever Pitch, 21, and Gone Baby Gone

  • After the movie tour is done, come back and relax at the Clarendon Square Bed and Breakfast. Clarendon Square is located in Boston’s South End neighborhood which was featured in the 2009 film Surrogates starring Bruce Willis and Rosamond Pike. You can even spot our very own Bobby Ciletti as an extra in one of the scenes.
