Pain D'Avignon was opened over 20 years ago in Cape Cod, Massachusetts by four young Yugoslavs. The founding principle of this excellent bakery is, "fine breads deserve to be at the center of the dining experience, not a mere afterthought". The founders of Pain D'Avignon had a goal of recreating Old World techniques of baking. For this reason, employees at the bakery cut and shape every loaf made by hand, and use only natural ingredients. Pain D'Avignon also keeps loaves in a woven piece of linen while the dough is retarding. This technique ensures that the dough holds its shape and retains moisture.

 In addition to being a wholesale provider, Pain D'Avignon also has a neighborhood café. So, when you fall in love with Pain D'Avignon's pastries during your stay at Clarendon Square Inn, you may be inspire to plan a trip down to Cape Cod and visit Boulangerie. This café is open 7 days a week and serves European style breakfasts, gourmet lunches, and contemporary French dinners. Pain D'Avignon also maintains a strong presence at local farmer's markets. When farmer's markets are open, you can find Pain D'Avignon each Monday at City Hall in Boston!
