Where to See Oscar Movies in Boston - Bed and Breakfast

 Last night the 84th Academy Awards celebrated the achievements of another evocative year of film. Like the guests at our Boston bed and breakfast, we watching in anticipation to see who would take home the night's top honors on the Red Carpet and on the Kodak Theatre Hollywood & Highland Center Stage. As many predicted The Artist was a big winner for the night. Taking home five awards, including coveted categories like Best Film, Best Actor & Best Director. Hugo tied the film by also winning five awards in technical categories, like Best Special Effects, something the movie's success relied heavily on to achieve the fantasy world set in France.

Controversial wins in categories like Best Actress & Best Film robbed The Help from achieving Academy Awards glory. However, Octavia Spencer kept her awards season momentum going and with a win for Best Supporting Actress as a feisty maid for her role in The Help. While The Help may not have won to the extent many hoped, the film did succeed with audiences across the country. If you have not seen it, this is definitely one worth adding permanently to your home theatre library.

The Kendall Square Cinema is showing the largest collection of Oscar movies in Boston. If you were hoping to catch The Descendants, Iron Lady, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy or The Artist you are in luck. The Cinema is also screening Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts & Oscar Nominated Live Action Shorts. If you want to make a day out of your post Oscar movie screening, consider the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, which has a lovely pedestrian area where you could have lunch or browse some boutiques before or after the film. The Coolidge Corner Theatre is screening The Artist & Both sets of Oscar Nominated Shorts. Interested in the fantasy world of Hugo you can catch the 3D version at the Boston Common Theatre which is the most conveniently located theatre in Boston.

3 Great Broadway Shows Coming to Boston Bed and Breakfast

The Boston will be vibrant this spring welcoming great classics from The Great White Way. The following shows will be presented at the Boston Opera House from the folks at Broadway Across America.
Les Miserables is celebrating its 25th anniversary of the musical production in a big way. The period of life of inmate 24601 gets a beautiful makeover with the paintings of its author, Victor Hugo. "The Miserable ones" will be playing at the Boston Opera House from March 13, 2012 until April 1st, 2012. Get your Tickets Soon!

On its 17th year, Riverdance is making short round in Boston at the Boston Opera House. On stage only from April 13th, 2012 until April 15th, 2012, there is not much time to waste getting those tickets. Its only 5 shows! For over 2 hours of music and dancing, you'll feel a little Irish at the end of the show.

The Disney classic Beauty and the Beast get the musical treatment apt for all ages. Imagine the costumes, and sing-a-longs; all taking place at the Boston Opera House. This show is here only from May 29th, 2012 through June 3rd, 2012, so act fast if you want to surprise your little ones or loved ones because with only 8 shows, tickets are sure to go fast.

As if a great sing-a-long wasn't great enough, Mamma Mia! will also be in town, and just in time for wedding season. These Tickets are great gifts for brides-to-be or wedding parties, or just for a great night out with friends. Make sure to get aisle seats so you cam easily get up and dance too! Tickets will be on sale soon. The show will be playing at the Boston Opera House from June 19th, 2012 through June 24th, 2012.

4 New Restaurants near Boston Bed and Breakfast

The colorful restaurant landscape in Boston is always welcoming. A few new places have recently opened up in Boston and the crowds have been very warm. Make sure to check these out during your next visit to Boston.

Now open in Cambridge's Davis Square is Saloon. The folks who brought Foundry on Elm to light in 2010, are bringing you Saloon this time around. Their menu features uncomplicated great American food and numerous brown liquors and local brews.

A little bit of Texas moved next to Fenway park recently when Sweet Cheeks appeared. Sweet Cheeks is all about BBQ in their 3 menus: lunch, dinner and late night.

The Red Eye Pig opened its doors in West Roxbury and their name says it all: Downhome Southern BBQ. Although their menu does accommodate some good looking salads, it is all about the meat! Beef, pork and chicken that has been smoked, grilled, pushed and pulled, and mixed with a variety of indulgent sauces.

One of the perks of being a  Boston Bed and Breakfast is that we get to spend time with guests around the table. This provides us with the perfect opportunity to get to know our guests, and it provides our guests with access to our staff so they can communicate any needs during their stay.


During breakfast we have countless conservations about dinner options, tours, the theater and things to do in Boston. Our breakfast is served from 8:00am until 10:30am and offers a colorful selection of breakfast items.

If your travel plans require a later start to the day, here are some options where you can find fun, delicious and unique brunch menus:

On Washington Street, Union Bar and Grille offers a colorful Boston Brunch Menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am until 3pm. Union also offer an early riser special all day (10am-3pm) Saturday and from 10am until 11am on Sundays with a fixed price of $9.95 for a multiple course brunch meal deal.

Masa offers a Fiesta Brunch Special offered every Saturday Brunch 10:00AM-3:30PM and every Sunday Brunch 9:00AM-11:30AM. Their regular Brunch menu is available Saturdays 10:00am-3:30pm & Sundays 9:00am-3:30pm.
