Boston Bed and Breakfast Invites Cupcake Connoisseurs to Sample Our City's Finest

Sprinkles Cupcake ATM in Los Angeles
As a Boston bed and breakfast, we know a thing or two about indulging in sweets & treats, especially the infamous cupcake. It has been nearly 10 calorie filled years, since cupcakes became popularized in mainstream media (a la Sex & the City in July 2000 and various cupcake-centered cooking shows) and it does not show any signs of slowing down.

Well into 2012, cupcakes are still making headlines, including the newly conceived Sprinkles 24 Hour Cupcake ATM outside their flagship shop in Beverly Hills.  Locally, the arrival of Crumbs Bake Shop to the Financial District is heaven for those seeking to satisfy their sweet tooth.  For those who covet cupcakes, Boston bakeries offer a convenient crossroad of crowd-pleasing favorites and one of a kind flavors. If you are looking for fun things to do in Boston, consider our Boston Cupcake crawl.

Sweet Boston - Whether you are at their original location on Massachusetts Avenue in Back Bay or Newbury Street or even Harvard Square, a delicious cupcake is within reach. Consider trying one of their daily staples like Red Velvet or Organic Karat, which is topped with a piece of edible gold.

Cakeology - Here you will find flavors that remind you of favorite treats like "Milk & Cereal" made with crushed Froot Loops and buttermilk frosting. We also love the idea of a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich gone cupcake and let's not forget the outrageous Root Beer Float Cupcake. Unique flavors bring fun to this cupcake stop in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood.

Georgetown Cupcake Coming to Boston Soon

KickAss Cupcakes & Truck - The Somerville location may be too far off the beaten track for our guests. Luckily, this bakery has taken its show on the food with a garishly decorate food truck. Now you can find these KickAss Cupcakes at various locations depending on the day of the week. As the name suggests, this bakery has some in your face flavors that use local brews like Sam Adams to create a one of a kind frosting.

Georgetown Cupcake You may recognize the name from the TLC reality series DC Cupake. The sister owned & operated bakery serves deliciously, sophisticated cupcakes that are just as tasty as they are eye appealing. The take ordinary flavors like Chocolate & bump them up by using Valrhona Chocolate, prized for its luxurious taste & quality. The Boston location is opening sometime this spring, so keep your mouths eyes open!

Cupcakory Cupcake Truck With classic flavors you would expect, the Cupcakory offers a quality cupcakes. The owners pride themselves on using organic ingredients and unbleached flours. Catch the Cupcakory in the Copley Place area on Wednesdays & Fridays, or visit their website for the most up to date schedule.

Crumbs Bake Shop The Boston location may be new, but Crumbs arrived on the Cupcake scene in 2003. The signature size of the Crumbs Cupcake sets it apart from the competition. Many would consider the size shareable, but when you are hoping to sample one of the 50 plus flavors, the sharing rationale may go out the window. Our advice, go with a group, so you can tackle the size and put a dent into the list of fabulous flavors.

Our Boston blog, may feel a little cupcake centric but that does not mean our city does not have fabulous dining options for lunches & dinner. Boston restaurants offer a variety of cuisines and atmospheres. Allow us to recommend some of our favorite South End restaurants, but do not be surprised if you happen to find a cupcake or two on the dessert menu...
