Before dinner, consider the First Night 2011 Programming. Each year Boston puts together a colorful and family fun itinerary for Bostonians. Enjoy performances all around town, ice skating, fireworks and our favorite, the ice sculptures. First Night is an affordable and fun. For a complete list of First Night Activities visit First Night 2011 Activities Boston.

Another great before dinner treat is the B&G Oysters Celebration. Located in the South End, B&G is one of the acclaimed Barbara Lynch restaurants, just steps away from Clarendon Square. From 12pm - 6pm stop in to order a premature glass of Champagne and some of the freshest seafood in Boston. The vibe at B&G is stylish & sophisticated but understated --- a great way to relax & have fun before the big night ahead. For the full on New Years Eve dinner there are so many options at any number of Bostons top restaurants. We have selected a few of our favorites, each fabulous in its own way.

Metropolis Cafe is over a few specials in addition to the always satisfying mix of roast chicken, risotto and fabulous wines by the glass. The addition of an herb crusted venison tenderloin caught our eye! The atmosphere at Metropolis is romantic, quaint & understated. Perfect for a casually elegant NYE.

For more musical New Year we suggest Beehive Soul Resolution, which $95 with food $65 without. From 9pm -2:30am enjoy food, funk & soul.

Stella is one of the most delightful restaurants in the city. Luckily for us it is only a few blocks away. On New Years Eve enjoy the Prix Fixe menu for $58 or order a la carte.

Market by Jean-Georges is one of our absolute favorites for any night, so you can imagine they have plan a spectacular menu for NYE. Enjoy succulent scallops on black truffle toast or Maine lobster with glazed chestnuts in brandy butter of the Prix Fixe menu for only $95 sounds tasty! 7:30 – 10:30pm

We are featuring four restaurants out of close to fifty in the South End, but one thing is certain. Reservations are a must. If you are looking for the after party or just a party in general consider on the these produced evenings complete with food, drinks & fun!

The Masquerade $75 8pm - Onward

Odyssey Boston Harbor Dinner Cruise + Fireworks $209 8pm – 1am

Cure Lounge Grand Opening NYE Party

Timeless at the Calderwood Pavillion

After an evening of dinner, drinks & parties, come back to Clarendon Square for a view of the city from our roof top hot tub. The perfect ending for a new beginning!

Boston Wine and Cheese favorite!

Here is a great idea while on your visit to Boston's South End. A local favorite is the Formaggio Kitchen. We simply cannot go more than a day or two before popping in to see what fresh and yummy treats they have. Everything is special, from the cheese to the wines to the friendly staff. They have a South End location at 268 Shamut Ave... just a quick walk from our bed and breakfast. Edible souveniers make great gifts & the Formaggio has great sandwiches & bakery items as well! Consider picking up lunch here & eating it in a nearby park!

Top 10 Christmas Destinations According to CNN Boston Bed & Breakfast

Hong Kong, Belarus, Salzburg, Sydney, London, New York City, Nuremburg, Iceland, Puerto Rico and... Boston? What do these 10 disparate destinations have in common? They score high on Christmas cheer & yuletide greetings according to a recent CNN report Top 10 Christmas Destinations.

A few of these destinations score big for the sunny & very unChristmas like weather. Others made the list for their ancient Christmas markets. Boston made the list for?

Anyone who has been to Boston during the festive season, knows the Christmas charm is overflowing. Being the epicenter of New England, Boston represents the New England Christmas traditions well. It is common to have a white Christmas here, so snow duster brick & cobblestone streets are welcomed sight during the season. The quaint residential neighborhoods in downtown Boston are decorated with live evergreen, wreaths & adornments. The glimpse of holiday lights in the neighborhood windows is an added touch of holiday spirit. It is the perfect time for travel to Boston.

In Boston you can trade in the typical holiday turkey for a fresh local lobster dinner. With a list of activities to keep you busy, there are no shortage of things to do in Boston. It is a fantastic choice for the holidays. Enjoy Boston Ballet's Nutcracker, Ice Skating on the Frog Pond & Christmas shopping on Newbury Street. Do not miss the scene of candlelit carols at Trinity Church in Copley Square.  If you love things festive & bright consider staying at bed and breakfast where you will instantly soak up the holiday charm. Clarendon Square Inn definitely will dazzle you with a display of glitter regalia & twinkling lights. Our signature holiday tradition, is our city sized cranberry bog in our front pond. Nothing better represents Christmas in New England or holiday traditions like a stay at Clarendon Square Bed and Breakfast. By this time of year, most people have already planned their Christmas holiday, but consider a relaxing escape during the month of December. A night or two in Boston is the perfect time to soak up the festive Christmas charm while relaxing and enjoying this time of year.

Top 5 Christmas Holiday Gift Ideas Tips from Boston Bed and Breakfast

Keep these 5 tips in mind when shopping for the perfect gift.

For shoppers with a modernista on their list than stop by Lekker for fabulous finds for the home & kitchen. Lekker specializes in a sleek aesthetic, but that does not mean you will have trouble using anything from their inventory. Bars sets, stemware and decanters make fantastic gifts anytime of year, but are reportedly apropos for the season. Highlighting our first tip - give a gift that is fun & useful for the busy season ahead. Items for the bar are certainly useful & come in handy during the coming weeks of extra entertaining. Plus items like these are not too practical to leave the recipient underwhelmed.

Food is always a great gift for the right person that is. It is comforting. If there is a foodie on your list & your budget is being consumed rapidly consider restaurant gift cards & a corresponding cookbook. Pair a gift certificate to Flour or The Butcher Shop with copies of Barbara Lynch's Stir & Joanne Chang's Flour cook book. If you sneak a peek you may find a few recipes to try at your next holiday gathering. Also, because the chef authors are local snagging a signed copy is certainly achievable. This little detail can add a great personal touch.
Give an experience. This idea is just beginning to catch on but it makes total sense. Many studies suggest those that people who spend their money or experiences verse material goods are happier. Imagine. An international trip may not be budget friendly at this time of year, but let's weigh the options. Plan a luxurious but affordable Boston staycation for a predetermined time in the middle of the winter. The perfect way to do this is to book a midweek escape at Clarendon Square. Midweek is the best time to redeem gifts like this because prices are generally a little less expensive & you have the benefit of doing something unexpected. If you do a staycation on the weekend you may just fall into the normal routine. By breaking the routine you will be able to enjoy your experience. A couple nights of hot tubing on our roof and a few dinners in the South End will have you experiencing the fabulous life. Who would not love that!  If your budget is a little friendly than most consider a last minute trip for after Christmas. Travelzoo.com offers a variety of last minute deals, getaways and escapes.

The obvious route usually (always) pays off... If your budget can handle it and you really want a show stopper go with this holiday season's most talked about requested gift. The iPad. We love this phenomenon. With so many uses you may need to buy two, and keep one for yourself. Everything from email, web browsing, iBooks, facebook, games, apps, movies and more.

Pampering should never be over looked when considered a special gift. Remember not everyone is comfortable with massages, and people that do treat themselves to the ritual facial may not want to try a new aesthetician. While massages and facials are great gift ideas, they do not always work out according to plan. Consider give luxurious products for the face & body. We love the line at Fresh. A company founded here in the South End, Fresh uses natural ingredients to promote the namesake of its brand. With hundreds of great products to enjoy it may be hard to pick so consider buying a selection. Use these products to create a beauty stocking or present a beautifully wrapped gift basket with a group of products. However you make it happen, be sure to include Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, Sugar Lip Polish & Brown Sugar Body Polish -- three of Fresh's most fabulous products.
